New LYS -- the LambShoppe (say it out loud to get how clever it is)

Yes, I visited our new LYS in town -- the LambShoppe!

Cute, huh? Nice windows, good light ...

I don't know exactly why I fell in love with this store, but I did. It was perhaps just the neighborhood ... it's located in a really cool and groovy older neighborhood in Denver -- the kind that I wish I lived in, rather than my boring suburb of Boulder. After seeing LambShoppe, I have to say that if I were looking to purchase a house, that neighborhood would get a thumb's up simply for the proximity to such a nice LYS.

The kind of LYS that makes you wish your closet looked like this ... or is that just me?

Perhaps, however, it was the towering shelves of yarn in the store ... with every line of Debbie Bliss, in every color ... organized in such a manner that made me wish I lived there. Plus, the ... the Jo Sharp ... Nashua ... Br Sheep ... Mtn Colors ... Ozark Handspun ... so many nice, fun yarns that I couldn't decide what to walk away with. Sure, they didn't carry Rowan, Koigu or Lorna's Laces ... but they had enough fine yarns that I will definitely make the drive to visit in the future.

And perhaps it was the fabulous way they arranged the store ... they have a coffee bar in the center of the store. Today (Weds., 4/26) they will be opening the coffee bar, but on the day I was there the owners were praticing their barista skills and they handed me a free latte. A free latte. Enough said.

In case all of this weren't enough, the owner also told me that she was thinking of offering Saturday morning babysitting for moms!!!!! (That really does deserve five explanation marks.) If that's the case, my credit card is in serious trouble.

(Did I mention yet that I was recognized in the store from my blog? In a "You must be Jenifer from your blog!" And when I signed up for customer info, the owner said, "And you spell your name with one N, right?" That was so cool. Not like that's the reason I blog or anything ...)

My kids were (almost) perfectly behaved ...

... which was more due to the bribe of ice cream afterwards than my parenting skills. I think that the perfect location for a yarn store is right next to either an ice cream store (shown here, the Daily Scoop), or a candy store, to give the parents who enter the yarn store ammunition for their bribes. One stop shopping, right?

I loved the store. My vote: Worth the trip!

Hi Jenifer,
Nice, new blog! That yarn store looks great, and I'll have to find out where it is and do a roadtrip. Did you hear about the new yarn store in Louisville? I have no idea the name, but it's fairly close to where The Stitchin' Den was.
