Mew Mew's Yarn Shop!

I managed to get to my brand-new local yarn shop on their opening day, I've been there three times since then, and I'm now finally blogging about it!

I present to you Mew Mew's Yarn Shop:

(For you locals, here are the precise directions: get yourself to the corner of Pine and Main St. in downtown Louisville. Go east on Pine, past the Mexican restaurant, past the train tracks, and take an immediate right into the used car lot ... You'll keep your eyes peeled for this sign visible from Pine St. :
Mew Mew's is sharing a space in that building.)

I can't say enough nice things about this shop. The owner, Sue, is an amazing and talented knitter/spinner/fiberaholic, and is somebody that I will go to in order to get help on projects if I need it ... I am lucky to have her be the owner of my LYS!

As for the collection of yarns ... Sue has done a great job establishing a wide variety of yarns, including a really nice selection of Lamb's Pride Worsted (such a great staple yarn), Galways worsted (so reasonably priced), some superwash wool that I didn't recognize but reminded me of Cascade 220, etc. A few other yarns that struck me where the Regia Silk (... silk handknit socks? I don't think I'd fall prey to SSS with that yarn... okay, if you must know, I bought some, and I didn't, FO report to come), some fabulous cashmere, some amazing laceweight Icelandic yarn from Schoolhouse Press, a great selection of soft fingering-weight yarn, banana fiber yarn ... you get the idea. Many of her yarns were not what you would see in the everyday yarn shop, which made it a lot of fun to browse through!

More photos ...

... Check out the Addi Turbo selection! ...

... and even more needles in the back! (I did fall prey to some special ones) ...

... Sue is selling MewMew whiskers ... for those crafters and knitters who need small amounts for embellishing ...

... Sue even bought toys for her store, knowing I have two kids ... how thoughtful! ...

... the sock yarn collection -- I did fall prey as well to both some Regia Silk and some Trekking ... more info later ..

... check out the Elizabeth Zimmerman newsletters that Sue is carrying ... only $1.00 each!

The best part of the yarn shop (besides the yarn) is that there actually is a little Mew Mew who comes to work with Sue. What's not to love about that?

Go stop by if you get the chance!

PS ... MEW MEW'S IS HAVING HER GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION THIS SATURDAY, JULY 1 ... too bad I'll be out of town. Go by for me if you can. :)

Thanks for the virtual tour! It looks like such a nice shop. I'll have to see if I can't make it up that way one of these days.

Umm, yum, Regia Silk. Now you've tempted me to go see it. I may have to get up there. Sounds like a nice shop.

Nice review! So far, I've only been in once and it's just 5 minutes away maximum! I'm trying to be good. . . .
